Ancient Place

A place that feels ancient and enduring, shaped by water, stone, weather and time. Beneath the sweeping gums, the cool water rests against rugged rock, while the land rises beyond in layers of colour and light.

Ancient Place is my response to the deep sense of presence I feel in the Australian landscape—a recognition that this Country holds stories, knowledge and connection far older than my own. It is painted with respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, whose enduring relationship with Country reaches back countless generations.

For me, this work is about slowing down and observing; appreciating the beauty of the land without imagining it belongs to us, and remembering that we are only ever passing through an ancient place.
